| Conditions | Two primary-source routes on the NCDHHS registry page: (1) Reciprocity - completed a state-approved training program, passed competency testing, listed on another state's registry in unexpired good standing with no pending/substantiated findings, AND employed as a nurse aide for pay for at least 8 hours performing RN-delegated/supervised nursing tasks in the previous 24 consecutive months. Out-of-state private duty employment does not qualify. (2) Training Waiver - completed a state-approved nurse aide training program in another state within the last 24 months and currently listed unexpired/in good standing; this route can lead to NC competency testing. NCDHHS FAQ states there are no registry fees. |
| Work-history requirement | At least 8 hours of paid, RN-supervised nurse aide work in the previous 24 consecutive months (reciprocity route) |
| North Carolina training standard | 75 hours (your Colorado program: 75 hours) |
If your certification is lapsed, or your training hours differ from the Colorado standard, your verdict changes. An inactive home certification transfers nowhere — fix it at home first.
It is on your training certificate. Most state programs run 75 to 160 hours.
