Verdict for this pair
Illinois accepts active certifications with a $25 application fee, a work-history requirement.
Computed from Illinois's published endorsement rules, checked October 22, 2026. This is a calculator, not the registry — confirm with the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (Illinois Department of Public Health) before accepting a start date.
| Application fee | $25 |
|---|---|
| Typical processing | Not published |
| Exam required? | No retest for endorsed aides |
| Conditions | Must be deemed competent on another state's CNA registry, with documentation that 42 CFR 483.151/483.152 requirements were met, no administrative findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation on any state's registry, and no disqualifying convictions. You must be ACTIVE in your home state — an inactive application cannot be processed. Mail the Out-of-State Nurse Aide Application with a $25 money order payable to SIUC / Nurse Aide Testing (no personal checks or cash). A separate fingerprint background check under the Health Care Worker Background Check Act is required before you can work. |
| Work-history requirement | Must be active on the home-state registry at the time of application. |
| Illinois training standard | 120 hours (your California program: 160 hours) |
If your certification is lapsed, or your training hours differ from the California standard, your verdict changes. An inactive home certification transfers nowhere — fix it at home first.
It is on your training certificate. Most state programs run 75 to 160 hours.
